Alarm.com is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to act as a technical multiplier across SPX and Device Platform. You will own complex, high-visibility initiatives end-to-end, shape architectural direction across domains, and build reusable patterns used by many teams.

This hands-on role emphasizes clarity, quality, and impact beyond your immediate scope. You will lead cross-team design reviews, drive production-ready delivery, and mentor engineers while collaborating with architects and senior

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of backend software engineering experience at Staff level.
• Proven experience leading large, multi-engineer technical initiatives end-to-end.
• Experience defining reusable platform patterns and libraries.
• Strong architectural judgment for domain boundaries and long-term maintainability.
• Experience with RESTful and/or gRPC APIs and event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for cross-cutting initiatives spanning device APIs and event pipelines.
• Lead architectural design for medium-to-large initiatives with thorough design docs.
• Define and evolve shared platform patterns, API contracts, and event schemas.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of large initiatives with autonomy and high quality.
• Ensure systems are observable, operable, and production-ready from day one.
• Build reusable frameworks and mentor engineers to raise overall technical capability.
