Job summary

Alarm.com is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to act as a technical multiplier across SPX and Device Platform. The role focuses on architecture, end-to-end delivery, and creating reusable patterns that scale across partner integrations and device ecosystems.

You will write code, influence architectural decisions, and drive initiatives across multiple teams, balancing reliability, scalability, and speed of delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practice.
• 10+ years of backend software engineering experience with staff-level impact.
• Proven ability to define and evolve reusable platform patterns used by multiple teams.
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and domain-aligned services.
• Demonstrated ability to drive architectural direction and cross-team initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction for cross-cutting initiatives spanning device APIs and event pipelines.
• Lead architectural design for medium-to-large initiatives with tradeoffs and long-term implications.
• Define and evolve shared platform patterns, API contracts, and event schemas.
• Anticipate 12+ month architectural risks and prevent delivery issues.
• Contribute to department-wide technical standards and design reviews.
• Build reusable frameworks and components adopted across the team.
