Job description

A Staff Platform Engineer role focused on building and evolving the cloud and delivery foundations behind an autonomous cybersecurity assessment platform. The position blends hands-on technical leadership with cross-team influence, shaping platform direction, developer workflows, and operational standards across a distributed engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, and shared platform services that underpin a production cybersecurity product.
• Define architecture for infrastructure automation, regional capabilities, and ephemeral environments used by engineering teams.
• Build reusable platform capabilities, self-service workflows, and release-safety practices using infrastructure-as-code and declarative approaches.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, security, performance, and operability while participating in on-call rotation and post-incident reviews.
• Drive complex initiatives across multiple teams, balancing reliability, security, cost, developer experience, and delivery speed.
• Mentor engineers, raise the technical bar, and improve documentation, runbooks, interfaces, and self-service paths.

Requirements

• 8+ years in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, SRE, DevOps, or software engineering with substantial production-platform ownership.
• Deep experience designing and operating cloud platforms, preferably on AWS.
• Strong Kubernetes background including production operations, networking, reliability, and troubleshooting.
• Infrastructure-as-code and automation expertise with Terraform, Crossplane, or comparable tools.
• Hands-on experience operating CI/CD and delivery infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of IAM, secrets management, networking, ingress, and least-privilege principles.
• Proficiency in Go and Python for platform services, tooling, or automation.
• Demonstrated success leading complex initiatives across multiple teams and excellent communication and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Multi-region or multi-environment SaaS platform experience.
• Internal developer platform, declarative API, or Platform-as-a-Service background.
• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, self-hosted runners, OpenTelemetry, or Datadog.
• Ephemeral-environment, automated-provisioning, or platform-lifecycle experience.
• Experience in security-sensitive, regulated, or cybersecurity environments, including startup or high-growth settings.

• Base salary range of $199,750-$270,000 annually, with the exact figure based on location, qualifications, and experience.
