Job summary
Chainguard is seeking a Staff Platform Database Engineer to shape how our databases are deployed, managed, and scaled across the company. This hands-on role will partner with engineering teams to create a resilient, scalable database platform and define guardrails that keep operations secure and reliable.

Qualifications
- 8+ years building and operating production database and platform infrastructure in modern cloud environments.
- Strong background in software, infrastructure, or platform engineering with focus on databases.
- Staff-level experience leading complex technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams.
- Deep experience designing, building, and operating database infrastructure in production.
Responsibilities
- Define database platform strategy and deployment standards.
- Build inventory of databases and prioritize resiliency improvements.
- Design replication, backups, DR, and capacity planning across regions.
- Develop production-grade tooling and guardrails for reliable operations.
- Write production code and contribute to tooling across Chainguard.
