Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a Staff Pipeline Engineer to join our Fortune 500 client on a permanent basis, working onsite from Atlanta, GA. The role involves leading pipeline design from concept through design completion, updating CAD drawings, and coordinating with project managers.

Must have ABET-accredited degree (Mechanical or Civil) with 3 years of pipeline engineering experience, or related degrees with FE/engineer-in-training preferred.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering or related field.
  • FE exam passed or EIT preferred.
  • 2–3+ years pipeline engineering experience (consulting preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design pipeline components for projects as defined by PMs.
  • Modify and review production drawings for pipeline projects.
  • Apply pipeline engineering concepts, codes, and procedures.
  • Research and compile project data and write specifications.
  • Update drawings using CAD software and verify corrections.
  • Prepare client presentations, shop drawings, and contract administration for pipeline design.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.

Job description

The Planet Group is looking for a Staff Pipeline Engineer to join our well-known Fortune 500 client on a Permeant base, working an onsite schedule from Atlanta, GA.

Interview Process details: Virtual first round, in-person 2nd round

  • Perform pipeline design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for a variety of projects, including but not limited to projects including pipeline projects, including transmission & distribution pipelines.
  • Design pipeline components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers.
  • Apply strong knowledge of commonly used pipeline engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the pipeline engineering services industry.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by the project managers. Compile studies and reports. Write specifications. Assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient, or testing is advisable.
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
  • Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of pipeline projects, including transmission & distribution pipelines.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of pipeline engineering experience required; consulting preferred.
  • Or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of pipeline engineering experience required, consulting preferred.
  • Or Master's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and 2 years of pipeline engineering experience required, consulting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in standard pipeline engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
