Summary

Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) Diagnostic Imaging Service is seeking experienced and dynamic radiologists (Physician in Diagnostic Radiology) for Nuclear Medicine and Breast Imaging positions. Ideal applicants are those committed to providing quality care in their respective subspecialty, contributing to the general radiology workflow, and being team players adaptable to the department's needs. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school.
  • Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
  • Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA programs may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs) under specific conditions.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Physical requirements include light lifting, use of fingers, walking, standing, near and far vision, color discrimination, hearing, etc.
Duties
  • This is an open and continuous announcement until September 14, 2025, or until filled.
  • Eligible applications will be referred periodically or as vacancies arise.
  • Applications remain active for 3 months; updates are required to maintain consideration.
  • Full-time staff radiologists will serve in subspecialties (mammography or nuclear medicine) up to 50% of the time, with additional general radiology duties.
  • Flexibility to adapt to departmental needs is essential.
  • Breast Imaging duties include interpreting various breast imaging studies, performing biopsies, monitoring image quality, and participating in accreditation and interdisciplinary tumor boards.
  • Nuclear Medicine duties include interpreting and supervising a wide range of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT exams, administering radiopharmaceuticals, and participating in quality assurance activities.
