Staff Physician (Radiologist) - Recruitment/Relocation Incentive Authorized

Summary

The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) Diagnostic Imaging Service is seeking experienced radiologists (Physicians in Diagnostic Radiology) for Nuclear Medicine and Breast Imaging positions. Ideal candidates are committed to providing quality care, contributing to the general radiology workflow, and being adaptable team players. Please review the "Preferred Experience" section below.

Duties

This is an OPEN & CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT that remains open until September 14, 2025, or until all positions are filled. Applications will be reviewed periodically and as new vacancies arise. Selected candidates will serve as full-time staff radiologists, spending up to 50% of their time in their subspecialty (mammography or nuclear medicine). The remaining time will be dedicated to general radiology duties, with flexibility to meet departmental needs.

Breast Imaging duties include:

  • Interpreting diagnostic imaging exams including screening and diagnostic 2D/3D mammography, ultrasound, MRI, and performing biopsies and wire localizations.
  • Using state-of-the-art equipment such as Hologic 3D tomosynthesis systems.
  • Monitoring image quality, pre-screening high-demand exams, ensuring compliance with safety and accreditation standards, and serving as a consultant for breast tumor boards.

Nuclear Medicine duties include:

  • Interpreting a variety of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT exams, supervising procedures, and managing therapeutic applications involving radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Ensuring quality and safety standards, consulting for tumor boards, and participating in quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available.
  • Full, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
  • Completion of residency in an accredited program leading to board eligibility.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Subject to background checks and pre-employment screening, including drug testing and physical exams.

Qualifications

Education

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an accredited institution. Foreign graduates must verify ECFMG certification. Additional details are provided in the full description.
