Position Summary

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for prescription verification (PV1 and PV2), oversight of non-sterile compounded medications, and ensuring safe and compliant dispensing practices. This role is not focused on hands-on compounding, but rather on validating lab-prepared compounds, supporting pharmacy technicians, and maintaining operational accuracy and workflow efficiency. This is a fast-paced, execution-driven position ideal for a pharmacist who is detail-oriented, operationally strong, and comfortable working across multiple areas of pharmacy workflow. This position supports overnight operations from 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform PV1 and PV2 prescription verification with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Conduct final verification prior to fulfillment and shipment.
  • Review non-sterile compounded preparations for accuracy, labeling, and documentation.
  • Validate formulations prepared by the lab to ensure compliance with internal standards.
  • Ensure compliance with USP <795> and USP <800> guidelines.
  • Support and oversee pharmacy technicians throughout workflow.
  • Maintain efficient processing in a high-volume environment during overnight operations.
  • Identify and resolve verification or processing issues.
  • Ensure proper handling and documentation of controlled substances.
  • Maintain an organized, inspection-ready pharmacy environment.
  • Communicate updates and outstanding items for operational continuity and smooth shift handoffs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
  • PharmD or BS in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Active New York Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage high-volume prescription workflows.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 12:00 AM–8:00 AM.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a compounding pharmacy environment.
  • Familiarity with USP <795> and USP <800>.
  • Experience with prescription verification workflows (PV1 / PV2).
  • Experience in high-volume pharmacy operations.
