Staff Pharmacist

Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by helping them with their pharmaceutical and wellness needs in a safe, courteous manner.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Pharmacist in Charge.

Status: Exempt position.

Knowledge

Essential:

• Current Pharmacist License in good standing.
• B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm D.
• A valid driver’s license for deliveries.
• Completion of ongoing training as per the Cosentino Learning Plan.

Non-Essential:

• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and retail pharmacy software systems is preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Supervise pharmacy activities in the absence of the Pharmacist in Charge, ensuring effective and respectful operations.
• Compound and dispense prescribed medications, reviewing prescriptions for accuracy and proper formulation.
• Direct pharmacy staff engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals in the absence of the Pharmacist in Charge.
• Provide information to customers regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.
• Maintain procedures for quality assurance, controlled substances security, and hazardous waste disposal.
• Enter data related to patient prescriptions, costs, and inventory management.
• Assay medications for identity, purity, and strength.
• Instruct interns and medical personnel on pharmacy matters.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards set by management.
• Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and safety regulations; maintain cleanliness.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and escalate when necessary.
• Adhere to and promote Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
• Operate pharmacy equipment safely and competently.
• Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, reading, writing, and basic math skills.

Non-Essential Job Functions

• Maintain communication with the Pharmacist in Charge regarding department issues.
• Support additional tasks, assist other stores or departments, and develop new skills as directed by management.

Physical Abilities

Essential:

• Reaching overhead, twisting at the waist, lifting up to 15 lbs, standing and walking for long periods, bending, and squatting.

Non-Essential:

• Climbing ladders up to 5 ft.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree required.

Experience: Minimum 1 year in retail pharmacy and customer service.

Licenses: Pharmacist license in MO in good standing for at least 1 year.
