JOB SUMMARY

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the day‑to‑day operational duties associated with the dispensing of prescription medication to meet the needs of a long‑term/post‑acute care pharmacy. The role adheres to the company’s quality and customer service standards, policies and procedures, and State and Federal guidelines. The schedule is 1:30pm – 12:00am with rotating weekends.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Verification for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders; check for content and accuracy of all medication packaging and labeling, including emergency drug kits and IV medications.
  • Maintain resident database to include appropriate current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including OTC and home remedies).
  • Assist in ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances; maintain a perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs.
  • Reconcile controlled substances perpetual inventory with pharmacy technician as required by management for compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide clinical expertise by responding to drug‑related questions and concerns from internal staff and external customers.
  • Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team, and patients/residents and their family members in the medical record.
  • Prepare and/or supervise all sterile IV drug products or solutions.
  • Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during rotation and as required by management.
  • Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned; job duties may vary depending on business needs.
  • Be responsible for the flow of work and appropriate outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES
  • Accurately and efficiently dispense prescription medications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays.
  • Experience using FrameworkLTC.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; English is the primary language.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, meet deadlines, set priorities, and remain flexible under pressure with multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational, customer service, and time‑management skills; ability to problem‑solve.
  • Maturity in judgment and overall professional demeanor.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Current pharmacist license active and in good standing in the state of practice.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Pharmacy Doctorate from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ recent experience in an acute‑care setting or one (1) year experience as a production pharmacist preferred (not required).
  • Experience and knowledge base of intravenous admixtures services and intravenous therapy desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day.
  • Employee occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, walk.
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed.
  • May lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY
  • Paid holidays: 6 days offered each year.
