Job summary

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians; interpret prescriptions.
• Verify and confirm prescription details and drug information with physicians/patients.
• Review controlled substances for validity and maintain compliance.
• Enter/verify prescription data accurately in the system.
• Collaborate with physicians to convert to generic or preferred drugs when possible.
• Counsel patients on medication use and potential interactions.
• Back up other pharmacists and train less experienced staff.

Staff Pharmacist - Onsite in Orlando, FL

Location: worksite dependent at our Orlando, FL location.

Address: 6272 Lee Vista Blvd, Orlando, FL, 32822

Schedule: Monday-Wednesday 10:30 am - 7:00 pm; and Thursday-Friday 11:30 am - 8:00 pm

There will also be a 1-week on-call rotation every 9-weeks starting in 2027. *On-call details to be discussed further upon interview.

During the approximate 6-9 week training period, the training hours will be Monday-Wednesday 10:30 am - 7:00 pm and Thursday-Friday 11:30 am - 8:00 pm. After training, there is potential to switch to a Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5 pm shift, but this is not guaranteed

As a Staff Pharmacist you will be responsible for compounding and dispensing medications within corporate and regulatory guidelines. In addition, maintain daily production, quality and service levels, vary work priorities and activities to accommodate business needs. The Staff Pharmacist may also train less experienced pharmacists.

What you will do:

• Provide oversight and quality assurance to pharmacy technicians. Interpret physicians' or prescribers' prescriptions.
• Contact doctors and/or patients to verify information on prescriptions such as drug strength, prescription sig., and drug name in order to expedite processing of orders.
• Verify and confirm validity of controlled substances
• Verify prescription information entered in the system by data entry or order entry.
• Contact physicians for new and/or transfer authorization.
• Work with physicians to convert prescriptions to generic or preferred drugs whenever possible.
• Consult with patients regarding the use of medications and potential drug interactions.
• Back up other pharmacists as needed, perform additional duties as assigned by management, or train less experienced pharmacists.

What you will need to do the job:

• Graduate of ACPE Accreditation School of Pharmacy with a B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D, degree is required
• Current resident pharmacist license in good standing is required
• Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to adapt in a changing environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work a flexible schedule for peak volume times
