We are seeking an experienced Staff Pharmacist to provide safe, accurate, and patient-centered pharmacy services. The Staff Pharmacist will be responsible for medication preparation and distribution, prescription verification, medication therapy management, patient counseling, pharmacy technician oversight, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.

Schedule:
The Pharmacist will have a rotating shift every 2 weeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, accurately label, and distribute medications pursuant to authorized physician or prescriber orders.
- Review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, dosage, drug interactions, and potential discrepancies.
- Communicate with prescribers regarding medication-related concerns and recommend appropriate alternative therapies when necessary.
- Perform medication therapy management and monitor patient medication regimens.
- Maintain accurate patient medication profiles and evaluate medication selection, dosage form, strength, duration of therapy, and potential interactions.
- Provide patient counseling regarding medications and devices.
- Transfer prescriptions as requested by patients in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Train, supervise, educate, and verify the work of pharmacy technicians, residents, interns, students, and other pharmacy personnel.
- Ensure pharmacy personnel comply with applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and departmental policies.
- Assist with care coordination and resolve insurance-related issues, including identifying opportunities for financial assistance.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, distribution, control, and recordkeeping of prescription and controlled medications.
- Maintain compliance with USP <795>, <797>, <800> requirements as applicable.
- Support compliance with 340B , specialty pharmacy accreditation, medication safety, and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct routine pharmacy inspections, including medication storage, expiration dates, and room, refrigerator, and freezer temperature documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and other departmental communications.
- Assist with inventory management and purchasing activities to maintain appropriate medication and supply levels.
- Participate in medication usage evaluations, quality assurance, continuous quality improvement, medication error reduction, and other pharmacy improvement initiatives.
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy regulations, laws, policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Participate in continuing education activities to maintain professional knowledge and competency.
- Deliver a high level of customer service while supporting University Hospital's mission, values, and commitment to patient-centered care.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current New Jersey Pharmacist license in good standing.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy degree.
- Experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medication therapy, drug interactions, pharmacy regulations, and patient safety.
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, <800>, 340B, controlled substances, and medication safety standards preferred.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
