We are looking for an efficient, flexible, and highly motivated Staff Pharmacist to join our team at Medicap Pharmacy in Indianola, IA!

Under indirect supervision, provides a full range of patient services by filling prescriptions, counseling patients, supervising Pharmacy Technicians, and providing professional services. Ensures all services comply with professional standards and applicable laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not exhaustive. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

• This role requires on-site attendance.
• Interprets prescriptions, checks for drug interactions and allergies, enters data into the computer system, and supervises Pharmacy Technicians to ensure accuracy.
• Provides counseling to patients both over the phone and in person, explaining medication use and duration, and answering questions. Collaborates with healthcare professionals and conducts research to ensure optimal patient care.
• Reviews inventory daily, places medication orders as needed, and maintains appropriate stock levels.
• Ensures proper billing procedures are followed in compliance with insurance, CMS, and pharmacy regulations.
• Counsels patients to ensure understanding of treatment plans and goals, discusses disease states and treatment options, and answers questions.
• Maintains current pharmacy license and knowledge of pharmacy software and cash register systems.
• Supports store profitability by controlling operational expenses and maximizing sales.
• Maintains punctual attendance and develops professional relationships with patients, customers, and staff.
• Follows security and loss prevention procedures.
• Maintains Schedule II inventory and completes third-party rejections and reports as required.
• Follows company procedures in dispensing incidents and ensures compliance with all laws and regulations.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college.
• Active, unrestricted pharmacy license in the state.
• One to two years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Location: Indianola, Iowa.
