Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review and accurately dispense prescriptions following federal, state, and local regulations.
  2. Provide patient education and counseling on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including proper usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
  3. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to manage and optimize medication therapy for patients.
  4. Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) to improve patient outcomes and ensure medication adherence.
  5. Oversee the accurate preparation and labeling of medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounds.
  6. Monitor for potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications, taking appropriate action when necessary.
  7. Maintain accurate pharmacy records and ensure compliance with Delta Health Center policies and state/federal regulations.
  8. Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives within the pharmacy department.
  9. Provide training and supervision to pharmacy technicians and support staff as needed.
  10. Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking of pharmaceutical supplies and monitoring for outdated or overstocked items.
  11. Stay updated on current pharmacy practice, new drugs, and treatment protocols to provide the highest level of care.

Qualifications:

  1. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  2. Current and active Mississippi Pharmacist License in good standing.
  3. Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical standards, laws, and ethical guidelines in Mississippi.
  4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and staff.
  5. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  6. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  7. Proficient in pharmacy software and technology used in retail and clinical settings.

Preferred Experience:

  1. Experience working in a community health center or underserved population.
  2. Previous experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
