Job summary

UPMC McKeesport is hiring a Full-Time Staff Nurse to support the 3M Medical/Surgical Unit on weekends. The position offers a generous sign-on bonus for RNs with over one year of experience and requires a two-year commitment.

Work 24 hours per week, spanning Friday 7:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM, and cover 49 of 52 weekends yearly. The Staff Nurse delivers compassionate, evidence-based care, communicates clearly with families and the care team, and acts as a role model for professional practice.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in PA.
• Weekend availability required.
• Ability to provide patient teaching and collaborate with care teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide highly competent patient care on a 24-hour weekend shift.
• Demonstrate independent judgment and effective communication with physicians and families.
• Teach patients, families, and staff as appropriate.
• Support precepting and onboarding of new staff and students.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and participate in quality improvement.

Sign-On Bonus Details:

$15,000 for registered nurses with more than one year of experience

Candidates hired into a sign-on bonus eligible role will be asked to make a two-year work commitment.

Weekend Program:

This position will work 24 hours per week between 7:00 PM Friday - 7:00 AM Monday. This position must work 49 of 52 weekends per year.

Purpose:

The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse who is a member of the care delivery team. The Professional Staff Nurse is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of nursing care. The Professional Staff Nurse manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members.
