Job summary

Berkshire Health Systems is seeking a Registered Professional Nurse to lead patient-centered care and coordinate nursing activities in a fast-paced environment located in Massachusetts.

The role requires an Associates Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred), Massachusetts RN licensure, and ongoing professional development including CCRN/CEN, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• RN licensed in Massachusetts with BLS.
• CCR|N or CEN within 1 year of hire; ACLS within 6 months; PALS within 1 year; TNCC within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Lead patient-centered nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Direct and guide activities of ancillary personnel to ensure safe, evidence-based care.
• Maintain standards of professional nursing and ongoing education; ensure compliance with state regulations.
• Float to CCU, PCU, Crisis, PACU and ED as needed for staffing flexibility.

Job description

The Registered Professional Nurse functions as a health care team leader responsible for the safe delivery of patient-centered, goal oriented care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Professional Nurse also directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

• DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
• Registered Nurse is the designation given to an individual who is licensed to practice professional nursing, holds ultimate responsibility for direct and indirect nursing care, is a graduate of an approved school for professional nursing, and is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse pursuant to M.G.L. c.112. Included in such responsibility is providing nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort, of those they serve.

• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
• Experience:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Has a thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures.
• Education and Training:
• Associates Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred.
• License, Certification & Registration:
• RN - Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts
• BLS
• CCERN - Successfully completes CCRN or CEN within one year of hire.
• ACLS - must be completed within six months of date of hire.
• PALS - must be completed within one year of hire.
• TNCC - must be completed within one year of hire.
• Other Requirements:
• Demonstrates continuing education in accordance with State regulations. Assures compliance with unit-specific scope of practice. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of the position can be fully met.
• Other Addendum(s) Requirements:
• Minimum of three years recent critical care or ED experience.
• National certification in critical care or ED preferred.
• Specialty Float position that includes floating to CCU, PCU, Crisis, PACU, and ED.
• Successfully completes Advanced Skill Courses: Arrhythmia, Coronary, Respiratory, and Neuro within 6 months of hire.
