Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Staff Nurse Resource Pool I to provide clinical nursing care across multiple units based on patient and unit needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, family-centered care, and the ability to work in a dynamic, hospital-wide setting.

The position is full-time days (7am–7:30pm) with a 36-hour weekly schedule. Candidates must hold a BSN, Ohio RN license, and current BLS; ACLS, NRP, and PALS within one year are preferred.

Qualifications

• BSN required or must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
• Active Ohio RN license required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS, NRP and PALS within 1 year may be required depending on department.
• Minimum of 1 year direct patient-care experience in an acute hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and directs nursing care with a focus on family centered care for individuals or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age and developmental status.

Summary

The Staff Nurse Resource Pool I provides nursing care requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences. The Staff Nurse Resource Pool I will be expected to provide clinical nursing care on multiple units/locations based on the needs of the units.

Full Time Days

7am-7:30pm
36 hours/week

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and directs nursing care with a focus on family centered care for individuals or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.


• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age and developmental status is required.


• Performs leadership and professional duties.


• Performs patient-centered care duties.


• Performs quality improvement and safety duties.


• Participates in the development education for staff members for clinically related issues. May be responsible for precepting new employees and act as a mentor to the clinical staff.


• Performs evidence-based practice duties.


• Supports the provider staff and actively promotes collaboration for efficient operation and quality care, and legendary customer service for pediatric patients using a team approach.


• Performs systems-based practice duties.


• Performs informatics and technology duties.


• Staff may be temporarily assigned to an area throughout the Akron Children's Hospital enterprise, based on patient needs requiring similar knowledge and skill.

• Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.


• Experience in healthcare is preferred.


• Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.


• Experience working an electronic medical record system (i.e. EPIC) or similar software is preferred.

Education And Experience

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required or must be obtained within 5 years from date of hire.


• Current certification in Basic Life Support training from the American Heart Association is required. Additional certifications may be required based on the assigned department or unit. Additional certifications that must be obtained within one (1) year of hire include ACLS, NRP and PALS.


• Active licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Ohio is required.


• Years of relevant experience: Minimum of One (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse preferred or at least one (1) year of direct patient-care experience in an acute hospital setting as a Nursing Tech, PCA, STNA, or equivalent required.
