Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a Staff Nurse in Ambulatory Care for the Oncology unit in Manhattan. This part-time, rotating schedule (3:00 P.M – 3:30 A.M) supports diagnosing and treating health problems through professional nursing care.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning and evaluating nursing regimens, and collaboration with the health team to deliver comprehensive care. NYS RN license and BLS certification required.

Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Identify physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing regimens for assigned patients.
• Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes.
• Interpret and report patient responses to health team members.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to plan comprehensive care.
• Assign nursing regimen components to allied personnel.
• Provide teaching and guidance to allied staff in patient care.
• Maintain standards of nursing practice and participate in conferences.
• Pursue continuing education to maintain competence.

About This Role

The Staff Nurse in Ambulatory Care provides professional nursing care to patients within the oncology unit, focusing on diagnosing and treating health problems through various nursing methods and techniques.

What You'll Do

• Identify and discriminate between physical and psycho-social signs and symptoms.
• Develop, implement, and continuously evaluate the nursing regimen for assigned patients/clients.
• Record and maintain nursing care plans and progress notes on patients/clients.
• Interpret and report responses of patients/clients to appropriate members of the health team.
• Participate with interdisciplinary health team members to plan a comprehensive patient care program.
• Determine and assign components of the nursing regimen to allied nursing personnel.
• Provide teaching, guidance, and direction to allied nursing personnel in patient care.
• Participate in defining, implementing, and maintaining standards of nursing practice.
• Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary conferences regarding nursing practice.
• Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education.

Requirements

Licenses & Certifications:

• A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
