Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is hiring a Staff Nurse for the Pediatric ICU. The role requires a registered nurse who can manage patient-centered care and coordinate treatments within a fast-paced academic medical center.

The Staff Nurse will be responsible for assessing patient needs, planning and implementing care, and evaluating outcomes, with supervision of junior staff as needed. Night shifts are 7:00pm–7:00am, on-site, with every-other weekend requirements; full-time at 0.9 FTE.

Qualifications

• NLN-accredited nursing program graduate.
• ADN required with BSN progression within 6–30 months; tuition reimbursement provided.
• Illinois RN license holders required.
• Active BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate patient-centered nursing care.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for each shift.
• Supervise and educate junior staff as assigned.

A Staff Nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing
• Associate Degree in Nursing;
  • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program
• Current Illinois RN license
• Active BLS certification

Compensation & Benefits Overview

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
