UChicago Medicine's 9 East Hospital Medicine unit at Hyde Park is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for a 0.6 FTE, 100% onsite role. The 28‑bed telemetry unit provides acute care with planned transitions to home or post‑acute care, in a world‑class academic health system.

Responsibilities include patient‑centered care, ongoing assessment, care planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Requirements: NLN‑accredited nursing program, ADN with BSN progress, Illinois RN license, and AHA BLS.

Formación

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing; ADN nurses must enroll in BSN within 6–9 months and complete BSN within 30 months; 100% tuition reimbursement toward BSN.
• Current Illinois RN license
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

• Develops a plan of care for those patients whose needs do not require the expertise of a Case Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Manager or collaborates with the Case Manager to develop a plan of care for specified patients.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned by Care Center Director or Patient Care Manager.
• Provides support to peers by assisting as needed, being a resource person and working as a team member.
• Assists Care Center in development/attainment of goals and objectives.
• Uses clinical pathways and/or plans of care incorporating standards of practice.
• Assesses own need for professional growth and development and seeks appropriate resources to meeting needs.
• Attends continuing education programs and participates in program evaluation.

Job Description

Be a part of a world‑class academic healthcare system, University of Chicago Medicine, as a Staff Nurse in the 9 East Hospital Medicine department at our Hyde Park campus. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

A staff nurse is a registered professional nurse (RN) who manages patient centered care that is outcome directed. Patient centered care principles and professional nursing practice standards provide the foundation for the nurse to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care provided. The staff nurse assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care personally provided and that provided by those directly under her/his supervision.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program.
• Current Illinois RN license
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
