Job description

Staff Nurse- Operating Room- FT- D/N @ LHDCMC

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and patient-family centered care in the Operating Room for all patient populations by utilizing Nursing Care Plans. The role involves collaboration with physicians and medical staff to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of patients. The nurse involves relevant parties such as family or guardians in patient care and supports the hospital's mission, vision, and values.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Adhering to professionalism standards and serving as a role model for team members.
  2. Participating in orientation and training of new staff.
  3. Providing quality nursing care during pre, intra, and post-operative phases.
  4. Assessing patient needs and planning care accordingly.
  5. Maintaining sterile environments, documenting care, and ensuring safety standards.
  6. Supporting team functions including room preparation, equipment management, and crisis response.
  7. Participating in professional development and infection control practices.

Qualifications include:

  • CNOR preferred; current ACLS, CPR/BLS required.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years OR experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of AORN standards and universal precautions.

Physical requirements involve handling and lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing, and fine motor skills.
