Job summary

McLeod Health is seeking a Staff Nurse for Oncology on a PRN (as needed) basis. The nurse will assess patient needs using history, exam and diagnostic data, and provide age-appropriate care aligned with the plan of care and standards of practice.

The role includes fostering a compassionate environment for patients and families, utilizing proper safety equipment, and contributing to nursing quality indicators.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Advanced resuscitative certification appropriate to population if serving in a charge nurse role.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs based on history, observation, physical examination and diagnostic data and provide age-appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Foster an environment of caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors.
  • Ensure health and safety by using appropriate equipment.
  • Contribute to Nursing Quality Indicators through standard work.
  • Precept and mentor novice employees to support department growth and performance.
  • Participate in hospital-system initiatives and evidence-based practice improvements.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional growth by setting goals and engaging in educational offerings.
  • Float to assist in other like units as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Staff Nurse - Oncology- PRN (as needed)
  • Job responsibilities include those listed in the competency document but are not limited to assessing the needs of the patients as assigned based on data collected through history, observation, physical examination, and analysis of diagnostic data while also providing appropriate age specific nursing interventions which are consistent with the plan of care and standards of practice.
  • Fosters an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors.
  • Utilizes appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff.
  • Utilizes standard work in relation to Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators.
  • Contributes to the overall performance of the department through precepting and mentoring novice employees.
  • Contributes to the department growth and performance through hospital-system initiatives cultivating nursing involved Evidence Based Practices.
  • Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in educational offerings.
  • Will float to assist in other like units as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
