Job summary

McLeod Health is hiring a Staff Nurse to provide direct patient care across assigned units in a dynamic hospital system. You will assess patients' needs based on history, examination, and diagnostics, and implement age-appropriate nursing interventions aligned with the plan of care and standards of practice.

You will foster a caring environment for patients and families, use appropriate safety equipment, participate in evidence-based practices, mentor new staff, and may float to other like units

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse license required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs based on history, observation, exams, and diagnostics.
  • Provide age-appropriate nursing interventions per care plan and standards.
  • Foster caring environment for patients, families, and visitors.
  • Utilize health and safety equipment to protect patients and staff.

  • Will float to assist in other like units as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Description:
Responsibilities:

  • Job responsibilities include those listed in the competency document but are not limited to assessing the needs of the patients as assigned based on data collected through history, observation, physical examination, and analysis of diagnostic data while also providing appropriate age specific nursing interventions which are consistent with the plan of care and standards of practice.
  • Fosters an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors.
  • Utilizes appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff.
  • Utilizes standard work in relation to Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators.
  • Contributes to the overall performance of the department through precepting and mentoring novice employees.
  • Contributes to the department growth and performance through hospital-system initiatives cultivating nursing involved Evidence Based Practices.
  • Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in educational offerings.
  • Will float to assist in other like units as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Advanced resuscitative certification appropriate to population if serving in a charge nurse role.
