Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for a group of patients during a designated time frame. The RN II provides care through the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment, instrumentation, and collaboration with other healthcare team members.
The role includes participating in patient and family teaching and providing leadership by working cooperatively with the healthcare team to uphold professional nursing standards in the clinical setting.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs ongoing, systematic assessments focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status, including nutrition, pain, education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
- Develops a goal-directed plan of care when appropriate.
- Implements care thoroughly, skillfully, consistently, and continuously.
- Prioritizes patient care based on essential needs and available resources such as time, personnel, equipment, and supplies.

- Ensures care provision complies with EMTALA, Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, and other relevant regulations, maintaining patient confidentiality and risk management.
- Proficient in emergency responses such as resuscitation, hazmat, and childbirth emergencies.
- Uses computers effectively for documentation, tracking, and communication.
- Collaborates with internal and external departments and agencies involved in patient care.
- Administers and manages medications, including titrating infusions and pediatric medications.
- Maintains all required licenses, certifications, and ongoing professional education per standards.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
One year of recent (within the last three years) experience as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED
- Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program, meeting current BRN clinical hours requirements; OR
- Graduate of a registered nursing program with either: 1) 2000 hours of RN experience in a clinical specialty within three years of graduation; or 2) clinical experience as a licensed vocational nurse with 2000 hours in a relevant specialty within three years before graduation.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited entry-level MSN program with completed pre-licensure requirements.
