Job summary

The Menninger Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse with a BSN for psychiatric patient care in Texas. Shift is 7a-7p, rotating days with every-other weekend as needed.

You will assess, plan, implement and document nursing care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safety and ongoing treatment participation. Two years of psychiatric nursing experience and an active Texas RN license are required.

Responsibilities

• Assess and plan patient care with goals across physical, psychological and social needs
• Develop nursing care plans based on diagnoses and standards

• Participate in hospital committees and orientation of staff and students
• Relieve charge nurse when needed
• Demonstrate professional conduct and maintain appropriate grooming and personal hygiene

Patient care

• Assessment and care planning –
• Sets appropriate goals; including the physical, psychological, social, and continuing care needs of each patient; evaluates nursing actions to meet those goals; and makes recommendations for any changes.
• Demonstrates effective bio-psycho-social assessment skills
• Develops comprehensive nursing care plans based on nursing diagnosis and standards of care, clearly written with expected outcomes
• Effectively utilizes nursing process in directing and providing patient care
• Modifies plan of care based on ongoing patient assessment
• Insures effective health teaching for patients and families
• Effective member of interdisciplinary team
• Observes, documents and communicates patient responses and effectiveness of nursing intervention and medication; documents in patient’s medical record according to established policy and procedure
• Insures safety by making patient and safety rounds according to policy, regularly assessing physical environments, and follow-up for identified concerns

Education Required: BSN

License/Certification: Current license to practice as RN in state of Texas
