Job summary

Aurora is hiring a Staff NPI Engineer in Mountain View to shepherd hardware from concept to low-volume manufacturing. You will guide design and manufacturing teams, define process controls, and own documentation for production transfer.

You will drive Kaizen, monitor yields, ensure product quality, and support both onsite and contract manufacturers with cross-functional collaboration and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Experience launching hardware products and managing life cycles.
• High-volume production experience in consumer electronics or automotive.
• Experience transferring hardware to production with APQP/DFX concepts.
• Strong knowledge of optical alignment and interconnects.
• Ability to implement design guidelines and process standards.
• Independence, urgency, and clear written/verbal communication.
• Experience with supply chain and vendor coordination for NPI.
• GD&T proficiency and understanding of manufacturing interactions.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and PDM/PLM tools (Arena).
• Adaptable to a high-output, multi-hat environment.

Responsibilities

• Drive manufacturing assembly and process initiatives across modules.
• Ensure end-to-end readiness for sensor pods at manufacturing partners.
• Develop hardware standards and process guidelines.
• Own control plans and BOMs to transfer HW to production floor.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and SOPs.
• Collaborate with module, integration, electrical and cross-functional teams.
• Monitor yield and drive continuous improvement on NPI lines.
• Provide onsite engineering support for process or equipment issues.
• Lead rapid problem-solving, DFx input, and design for service considerations.
• Organize cross-functional design reviews and liaise with CM partners.
