Job summary

Waymo LLC is advancing its Simulator Team, building state-of-the-art generative and physical world models for autonomous driving. The role shapes the technical roadmap, leads large-scale pre-training, and drives alignment and deployment across onboard perception and planning teams.

Ideal candidates will have deep expertise in 3D/4D vision, distributed ML, and production-grade systems, with a track record of leading complex ML architectures at scale.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS in CS/ML/Robotics or equivalent research track record.
• Extensive experience with large-scale generative and physical world models.
• Strong background in 3D/4D vision and world modeling.

Responsibilities

• Own the Architectural Roadmap for 4D world modeling and tokenizers.
• Lead Large-Scale Pre-Training across distributed clusters.
• Drive Post-Training & Alignment with SFT and RLAIF.
• Integrate multimodal signals across Camera, LiDAR, Radar.
• Optimize production deployment and serving for 10 Hz validation.
• Collaborate with Onboard Perception, Planner, and AI Foundation labs.
• Mentor engineers and uphold high engineering standards.
