Spotify is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to shape the future of personalized discovery. You will work at the intersection of recommendation systems, large language models, and production-scale ML infrastructure.

You will mentor engineers, own end-to-end ML systems, and collaborate across product, data science, and engineering to deliver high-quality user experiences at global scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building and deploying ML systems in production.
• Deep expertise in recommendation systems, ranking models, personalization, or large-scale content discovery.
• Strong Python skills and hands-on PyTorch experience.
• Experience with LLM training, fine-tuning, and optimization including SFT/distillation/LoRA.
• Familiar with large-scale inference, latency, reliability, and cost considerations.
• Proven ability to design and run online experiments and A/B tests.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve ML models and systems powering the Home feed and Shortcuts.
• Design and ship personalized recommendations serving millions of users.
• Build content recommendation systems for agentic and AI experiences.
• Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and optimize large language models.
• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, data scientists, and designers on experiments.
• Lead A/B testing, monitoring, and model evaluation for quality and cost.
• Improve ML platform, data pipelines, and production systems at scale.
• Provide technical direction in ambiguous problems and long-term architecture.
• Mentor other ML engineers and raise team standards.
