Shield AI in Boston, MA seeks a Senior ML Engineer to lead development of perception-capable ML solutions for autonomous systems. You will own architecture, model development, and deployment to production, collaborating with researchers, perception engineers, and platform teams.

The role emphasizes translating cutting-edge AI research into reliable, mission-ready capabilities with a strong focus on 3D vision, CV frameworks, and embedded hardware inference.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 6 years with a Master’s, or 4 years with a PhD.
• Expertise in machine learning fundamentals.
• Production experience training and deploying CV models.

Responsibilities

• Model Development – design, train, fine-tune, and maintain vision and vision-language models for autonomous systems.
• Data Pipelines & Model Training – build scalable data pipelines and evaluation loops for mission-relevant tasks.
• Model Deployment & Optimization – deploy and optimize models for embedded hardware with ONNX/TensorRT.
• Perception & Autonomy Applications – apply ML to perception and autonomy across aerial autonomous systems.
• Research-to-Production – translate research into production-ready capabilities balancing performance and efficiency.
• Cross-functional Collaboration – partner with perception, autonomy, platform and software teams.
• Model Evaluation & Validation – develop benchmarks and testing methodologies to guide improvements.
• Continuous Improvement – enhance training infrastructure and deployment workflows.
