BILL is hiring a Staff ML Engineer to shape the future of intelligent financial automation. You will own end-to-end ML initiatives, from problem framing to production deployment, spanning LLM-based extraction and data foundations. You will mentor engineers and help define technical direction across the AI/ML org.

The role emphasizes hands-on model work with PyTorch, experimentation, and delivering impact at scale in a remote-first environment with strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software/ML with staff level or equivalent scope, hands-on with ML stack.
• Experience fine-tuning LLMs and taking models to production at scale.
• Production experience in recommender/personalization/search domains.
• Strong data reasoning and experimental design, with production impact.
• Research mindset with shipping discipline and business metric focus.

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction for high-impact ML initiatives end to end.
• Prototype, fine-tune, and ship models; write production code with your team.
• Lead LLM strategy; evaluate and decide between self-hosted vs API models.
• Design data flywheel, labeling, feedback, and drift monitoring.
• Set engineering standards for model evaluation, reproducibility, and deployment.
• Mentor senior/mid ML engineers and influence product roadmaps.
