Job summary

BD is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead design, development, and deployment of ML solutions powering AI-driven decision-making across the BD Connected Care portfolio. You will own end-to-end ML lifecycle from experimentation to deployment, with emphasis on forecasting, anomaly detection, and scalable analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Machine Learning, Statistics, OR Operations Research, Applied Math, CS, or related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on ML/AI and software engineering with production ownership including forecasting/optimization.
• Deep expertise in model development and training across classical ML and deep learning, incl. time-series.
• Excellent Python; fluent with NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, PyTorch and forecasting stacks.
• Track record of moving models to production environments with 3+ years on AWS (not SageMaker).
• Comfortable with Docker, Kubernetes deployment and GitHub Actions CI/CD.
• Strong software-engineering habits: testing, packaging, CI, code review, observability.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of end-to-end ML lifecycle: design, training, deployment and monitoring.
• Develop probabilistic, multi-series forecasting models with interval estimates.
• Build and maintain training pipelines, data/versioning, and reproducibility.
• Create production inference services on AWS (EKS/S3/Lambda/Step Functions).
• Instrument models for quality, latency, drift; collaborate with ML Platform for deployment gates.
• Develop explainable outputs to justify recommendations for users.
• Mentor engineers, review designs, contribute to standards and tooling.
• Document methodology and validation in Confluence; produce ADRs and runbooks.
