Job summary

Waymo LLC seeks an experienced ML/AI specialist to lead cutting-edge deep learning and ML model development for evaluation systems powering autonomous driving. You will drive end-to-end ML initiatives, build Gen AI LLM/VLM solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical goals with Waymo’s business objectives.

The role requires 7+ years in ML projects, strong C++/Python skills, and experience with foundational models and major ML frameworks.

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands-on experience in machine learning projects.
• Strong coding in C++ and/or Python.
• Experience with Foundational Models, VLM, or Deep Learning.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face Transformers; deployment at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Robotics/ML or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred MS/PhD with ML specialization.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of cutting-edge Deep Learning and ML models to enhance human-led triaging and automate high-volume workflows.
• Design and build Gen AI LLM/VLM solutions for self-driving car behavior analysis and anomaly detection.
• Monitor and adopt best practices to develop RL from human feedback data collection and evaluation.
• Enhance User Feedback Analysis with multi-label classifications, sentiment analysis, and comment summarization.
• Oversee production and optimization of ML models across Waymo’s fleet.
• Provide technical direction and guidance to the team.
• Collaborate with PMs/TPMs to align technical goals with business objectives.
• Work with multiple teams and senior leadership to deliver strategic efforts.
