Job summary

Zscaler is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our hybrid team based in San Jose, CA. You will contribute to building the world’s largest cloud security platform, enabling rapid speed and agility through a cloud-first approach and a multitenant architecture serving millions of users.

You will shape production-grade AI features, collaborate across engineering to enhance services, and drive scalable microservices, data pipelines, and reliability in a fast-paced, security-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging AI-driven solutions.
• BS in Computer Science with 6+ years of experience, or MS/PhD with 5+ years solving real-world AI/ML problems and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in programming, data structures, algorithms, and machine learning with strong problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on experience with AI modeling, including feature generation, prompts, evaluations and productionization.
• Experience in ML model lifecycle (building, deployment, monitoring, optimization) and distributed microservices using Kubernetes and Docker (Python/Go/Java)

Responsibilities

• Own agentic troubleshooting framework, framing high-impact use cases and building processes for all products.
• Evaluate and integrate GenAI advances to deliver reliable production features with LLMs and ML models.
• Work with cloud platform and data lakes for feature exploration and generation.
• Handle volume data with real-time pipeline for data processing and aggregation.
• Design, implement, and operate scalable production systems focusing on microservices, data pipelines, orchestration, and caching.
