Nuro is seeking a Senior/Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the Behavior & Planning team, turning large-scale driving data into safe, natural behavior for our Driver platform. You will drive research to deployment across diverse geographies and vehicle platforms.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in ML, strong foundations, and the ability to guide multi‑team efforts, mentor teammates, and shape technical strategy.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building and deploying machine learning systems and leading multi‑team initiatives.
• Strong, general ML foundations with understanding of model architectures, training, and evaluation.
• Experience with data collection, training, deployment, and onboard inference.
• Ability to explain and apply state-of-the-art techniques across domains.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the autonomy stack from idea to on‑road deployment.
• Design, train, and productionize state‑of‑the‑art models including foundation/world models and planning.
• Build models that generalize to new cities and geographies and adapt to new platforms.
• Partner with Perception, Simulation & Evaluation, ML Infra & Data to deliver holistic autonomy solutions.
• Mentor engineers and researchers and influence roadmaps and strategy.
