Job summary

Zscaler is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer (Microservices) for a hybrid role in Santa Clara, CA. You will own end-to-end microservices for the ZIA control plane, building towards cloud-native architecture across multiple regions.

You will design, implement, and operate low-latency services, contribute to CI/CD and GitOps practices, and collaborate with Product, SRE, Security, and Architecture to ensure secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software development, including 2+ years building and operating production microservices.
• Proficiency in Go and solid software engineering fundamentals (testing, design, code quality).
• Kubernetes experience (EKS preferred), strong Docker fundamentals, experience delivering services in AWS, and familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and common autoscaling and rollout patterns.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate low-latency, event-driven microservices end to end (API through storage) with resilience patterns.
• Contribute to shared libraries, templates, and runbooks; ship via GitOps workflows (Argo CD/Flux) with canary/blue-green delivery.
• Instrument services with metrics, logs, and tracing; define and track SLIs/SLOs and participate in incident response and postmortems.
• Collaborate with Product, SRE, Security, and Architecture on designs and ADRs; elevate service security and supply-chain integrity.
• Profile performance, guide capacity planning and autoscaling, and optimize cloud costs for owned services.
