Zscaler is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer (Backend) in a hybrid role based in Bangalore. You will architect, scale, and operate complex distributed systems and cloud-native platforms running on Kubernetes, owning end-to-end technical initiatives and ensuring reliability and performance across the engineering team.

You will lead design and development of backend services, drive deployment, scaling, and monitoring, and collaborate across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years owning backend or distributed production services.
• Strong expertise in Python, Go, or Rust and working proficiency in a second language.
• Experience building, scaling, and troubleshooting high-volume production APIs with containers and Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
• Strong system design, performance, and reliability fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing of backend services with scalable architecture.
• Own end‑to‑end deployment, scaling, monitoring, and production support.
• Design services in containerized environments and manage Kubernetes deployments.
• Lead incident response and RCA to improve production reliability.
• Collaborate across cloud infra for workload deployment and capacity planning.
