Job summary

T1 Energy is seeking a Staff Metrology Engineer for its G2 solar cell fab in Rockdale, Texas. You will own measurement systems and data integrity, guiding MSA programs and calibration across the facility to ensure trusted measurements for process control and yield management.

This senior, hands-on role sets the measurement standard, mentors technicians, and collaborates with Process, Quality, and Equipment teams to drive continuous improvements in metrology across the manufacturing line.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related field.
• 7+ years of metrology engineering in manufacturing, solar or semiconductor environments.
• Deep expertise in MSA and gauge R&R studies with hands-on tooling experience.
• Experience with metrology tools like film thickness, sheet resistance, surface inspection.
• Strong data analysis skills and integration with SPC and process control.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for metrology at the G2 solar cell fab across all steps.
• Design, implement, and maintain MSA programs including gauge R&R validation.
• Develop metrology control plans aligned with process control and quality specs.
• Partner with Process, Quality, and Equipment teams to integrate data into SPC workflows.
• Lead qualification and calibration of metrology tools (film thickness, resistivity, inspection).
• Establish sampling strategies and measurement plans balancing control and throughput.
• Analyze metrology data to identify trends, drift, and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with vendors on tool issues, procurement, installation and qualification.
• Maintain metrology documentation and SOP libraries; mentor junior engineers.
