Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Production Quality Metrology Engineer to own calibration program integrity for HTGR component production. You will manage gauges, master equipment, and measurement standards on the Torrance floor, collaborating with engineers, technicians, and inspectors to ensure traceability and accuracy.

The role requires hands-on execution of Gauge R&R, MSA studies, and measurement uncertainty budgets while coordinating with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve issues

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 3+ years in metrology, calibration engineering, or MSA within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of MSA, Gauge R&R, and measurement uncertainty concepts.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance requirements for measurement methods.
• Experience managing calibration systems, master equipment lists, or standards traceability programs.
• Comfortable working in active manufacturing environments with safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Own calibration program, master equipment list, and standards traceability for production measurement.
• Plan and execute Gauge R&R studies and broader MSA activities.
• Develop measurement uncertainty budgets and determine appropriate methods, gauges, and sampling strategies.
• Resolve measurement-driven nonconformances and process capability issues with cross-functional teams.
• Support audits of calibration and measurement systems; mentor technicians and inspectors.
