Job summary

Pro Staff is seeking a Staff Mechanical Specialist for power generation projects across Texas and surrounding states. You will lead mechanical design, equipment selection, and performance calculations for complex facilities, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

The role requires 7+ years in mechanical/thermal design, strong knowledge of power plant equipment, and familiarity with industry software. Hybrid work options available, offering challenging, impactful project work.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical, thermal, or process design within the power generation industry.
  • Experience with power plant equipment, process systems, and engineering design calculations.
  • Working knowledge of Thermoflow, PIPE-FLO, Fathom, Impulse, or similar engineering software.
  • Strong understanding of rotating equipment, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, pumps, turbines, and related systems.
  • FE certification or progress toward PE licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and equipment selection for power generation facilities.
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations and develop technical specifications.
  • Design and review P&IDs, PFDs, and mechanical system documentation.
  • Support the selection of boilers, condensers, cooling towers, pumps, tanks, blowers, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and related equipment.
  • Review vendor drawings, bids, and technical submittals.
  • Conduct plant site visits and gather operational data.
  • Ensure designs comply with ASME, API, TEMA, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, project teams, and other engineering disciplines.

Staff Mechanical Specialist - Power Generation

Direct Hire | $160,000 - $190,000 | Hybrid Available

Join a leading engineering team supporting power generation projects across Texas, Tennessee, Florida, and Louisiana. We are seeking an experienced Staff Mechanical Specialist with a strong background in power plants, thermal systems, and mechanical equipment design. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex power generation projects involving rotating and fixed equipment while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and equipment selection for power generation facilities.
  • Perform equipment sizing calculations and develop technical specifications.
  • Design and review P&IDs, PFDs, and mechanical system documentation.
  • Support the selection of boilers, condensers, cooling towers, pumps, tanks, blowers, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and related equipment.
