Job summary

Stryker in Waltham, MA seeks a Staff Mechanical Engineer, R&D to advance medical device concepts from idea through prototype and testing. You will research, design, develop, modify, and verify components and subsystems, translating clinical needs into design inputs and system-level solutions.

You will craft engineering drawings with GD&T, apply medical device standards, and work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Marketing teams. Travel about 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related).
• 4+ years engineering experience (prototype, testing, feasibility, or product development).

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, modify, and verify components, modules, and subsystems for medical devices.
• Translate user and clinical needs into design inputs, specifications, and system-level designs.
• Develop prototypes and testing methodologies to evaluate concept feasibility and address complex product design issues.
• Design and optimize mechanical and electromechanical assemblies with DFM principles.
• Create and evaluate engineering drawings and models using GD&T and CAE tools.
• Apply medical device standards and risk management activities to design requirements and verification strategies.
• Produce Design History File documents per Quality Management System.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management.
