Job summary

IPA is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead design and development of complex mechanical systems. You’ll own mechanism design from concept to production, drive cross-functional problem-solving, and ensure designs are manufacturable, scalable, and reliable for healthcare hardware.

You’ll work in a hybrid setup (4 days in office, 1 day remote) with a competitive compensation package and bonus eligibility, contributing to IPA's mission of improving infection prevention and operational

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 10+ years hands-on experience.
• Proven expertise in complex mechanism design including kinematics and multi-axis systems.
• Proficient in 3D CAD (Solid Edge preferred) and fabrication techniques such as sheet metal and plastics.
• Strong skills in applying DFM, DFA, DFS to production-ready designs.
• Experience with motion simulation, FEA, and kinematic analysis for validation.
• Ability to source precision components and engage vendors for specialized manufacturing.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration with leadership.
• Hands-on prototyping and bench testing using hardware concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of complex mechanical systems from concept to production.
• Design and optimize multi-axis assemblies and actuation mechanisms with CAD tools.
• Apply DFM/DFx principles to balance performance with manufacturability.
• Fabricate and test prototypes; perform motion analysis and simulations.
• Develop manufacturing and assembly processes for cost and quality targets.
• Evaluate vendors and materials for precise components and capabilities.
• Provide technical support and root cause analysis across teams.
• Monitor project costs and report to management; optimize designs for cost efficiency.
