Job summary

PulseForge, Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to own the mechanical architecture of our pulsed-light platform, from concept through production.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical depth.
• 10+ years designing hardware that was built, tested, and released or deployed.
• Fundamentals of statics, dynamics, materials, heat transfer, machine design, tolerancing.
• Release-ready output: models, drawings, BOMs, and packages for manufacturing.
• Design for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, and cost scaling from prototype to production.
• Hands-on experience building, testing, modifying, and troubleshooting hardware.
• Clear communication about tradeoffs, risk, cost, schedule, and release decisions.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentorship of cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect mechanical system across the platform scope from structures to cooling and optics.
• Own release decisions and collaboration with electrical, controls, software, and manufacturing.
• Translate physics and architecture into drawings, suppliers, assembly, and field performance.
• Lead design reviews, maintain configuration control, and drive continuous improvement.
• Work with a small team to move concepts into production-ready hardware.
