Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to join the EPC team in California. You will serve as the Mechanical Engineer of Record for projects, owning mechanical and plumbing deliverables and ensuring code compliance on a range of systems from HVAC to process piping.

The role requires a PE, 7+ years in HVAC/plumbing design, and proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD with experience in RFPs. Travel to project sites will be needed as part of project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Licensed PE with NCEES; ability to apply for NV/SC.
• 7+ years HVAC and Plumbing/FP design experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICC codes, NFPA, SMACNA, ASHRAE standards.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD; experience with RFP processes.
• Experience selecting mechanical equipment and performing design calculations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Mechanical Engineer of Record on projects (Hazardous occupancy, clean and dry spaces, chemical process / industrial plants).
• Design ownership for HVAC, plumbing, and related systems.
• Review conceptual designs for technical and financial risk.
• Ensure code compliance and high-quality deliverables.
• Develop workflows and standards for design excellence.
• Support on-field construction and commissioning tasks.
• Create/edit construction specifications for mechanical, process piping and plumbing systems.
• Travel to project sites and meetings as needed.
