Job summary

Anderson Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to drive concept development through construction. You will analyze existing systems, lead design teams, and prepare layout drawings for facilities across varied industries. This role emphasizes collaboration with clients and external consultants to refine designs.

Ideal candidates will have a California PE, experience with Title-24 docs via EnergyPro, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, plus knowledge of relevant codes and permits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience in the MEP industry.
  • California Mechanical PE certification required.
  • Experience drafting plumbing, ductwork, and piping in AutoCAD.
  • Experience modeling piping with Revit.
  • Experience preparing Title-24 documentation using EnergyPro.
  • Knowledge of California Mechanical, Plumbing, and Energy Codes.
  • Familiarity with California fire, electrical, residential and general building codes.

Responsibilities

Job description

Typical work tasks span early conceptual design through construction and commissioning and include:

  • Analyzing and documenting existing systems and equipment.
  • Work with and lead design professionals, consulting principals, and clients to develop concepts, design documents and specifications.
  • Provide professional and technical assistance to internal team, as well as clients..
  • Producing general equipment and building layout drawings, and participation in review meetings with stakeholders to revise and refine as required.
  • Creating Rough Order of Magnitude estimates and proposals for design services and construction.
  • Performing load calculations and sizing mechanical and plumbing infrastructure and equipment.
  • Working with vendors and manufacturer representatives to select, specify, and quote equipment.
  • Documenting code compliance through modeling of proposed designs using approved energy simulation software.
  • Preparing plumbing, process piping, and mechanical drawings.
  • Coordinating and reviewing architectural, structural, electrical, and controls designs from external consultants.
  • Coordinating and managing permit submittals to local building and planning departments.
  • Providing engineering support for field crews during construction.
  • Providing and overseeing commissioning and testing of installed equipment.
  • Creating as-builts based on field markups or field surveys.

Experience in the fields of commercial, health care, industrial, semi-conductor, and pharmaceutical industries is desired.

The position is full time in the office, must pass background checks and have a clean driver’s license.

Desired Skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience in MEP industry.
  • Mechanical PE certification in California.
  • Experience drafting plumbing, ductwork, and piping in AutoCAD.
  • Experience modeling plumbing, ductwork, and piping in Revit.
  • Experience preparing title 24 documentation using performance and prescriptive methods in EnergyPro.
  • Experience creating P&ID diagrams and writing sequences of operation for mechanical equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of California Mechanical, Plumbing, and Energy Codes.
  • Familiarity with California codes including fire, electrical, residential, and general building code.
