Job summary

Redwood Materials in San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction team. You will serve as Mechanical Engineer of Record on projects, owning mechanical and plumbing deliverables, ensuring code compliance and high quality through all design phases.

You will review concepts, develop workflows, and participate in on-site construction and commissioning, collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Licensed Professional Engineer with ability to apply for NV/SC.
7+ years HVAC and plumbing/FP design experience.
Familiar with ICC, NFPA, SMACNA, ASHRAE codes and standards.
Experience with equipment like chillers, AHUs, pumps, fans, boilers.
Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD; RFP processes experience.

Responsibilities

Serve as Mechanical Engineer of Record on projects and deliverables.
Design ownership for HVAC, water systems, process heating/cooling, and ductwork.
Review conceptual designs for technical and financial risk.
Ensure code compliance and high-quality design documentation.
Develop and improve project workflows and standards.
Participate in on-field construction and commissioning activities.
Collaborate on equipment layouts, P&IDs, isometrics, material takeoffs.
Travel to project sites and meetings as needed.
