Gears build team

The Staff Production Engineer will support the DSC gears organization. The position will support drive systems design, producibility, and improvements. The Staff Production Engineer understands advanced manufacturing principles to develop innovative manufacturing technology on existing or new designs, concepts, processes, systems, and tools. The individual possesses specialized manufacturing engineering knowledge in advanced manufacturing areas.

Responsibilities as a Staff Process Engineer on the DSC gears team include:

  1. Planning and executing manufacturing/build of all Bell gears from EMD to full rate production, working across all cost centers.
  2. Experience with gearbox fabrication is required.
  3. Knowledge of machined part fabrication, system assembly, install, tool index plans, GD&T, CATIA V6, and safety of flight test requirements.
  4. Identifying, reporting, and resolving safety and quality hazards/risks.
  5. Developing scope of work, resource estimates, progress metrics, and communication plans for project management.
  6. Performing producibility analysis and manufacturing trade studies for cost-effective solutions.
  7. Following disciplined project management processes from initiation to closure.
  8. Reviewing work and deliverables with team leadership and management to meet objectives.
  9. Mentoring and sharing manufacturing technology knowledge with colleagues.

Skills Required:

  1. Knowledge of Bell's product development lifecycle and prototype production methodologies.
  2. Proficiency in MS Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio.
  3. Experience working with a covered labor force preferred.
  4. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills with a team-oriented mindset.
  5. Excellent communication skills for building relationships across teams and suppliers.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Engineering or related field.
  2. Minimum of 14 years experience in aerospace or related manufacturing industry.
  3. At least 14 years experience in gear, case, and gearbox manufacturing.
