Gears Build Team

The Staff Production Engineer will support the DSC gears organization. The position will support drive systems design, producibility, and improvements. The Staff Production Engineer understands advanced manufacturing principles, theories, and concepts to develop innovative manufacturing technology on existing or advanced designs, concepts, processes, systems, and tools. The individual possesses specialized Manufacturing Engineering knowledge in advanced manufacturing areas.

Responsibilities
  • Support the planning and execution of manufacturing and build processes for all Bell gears from EMD to full rate production, working across all cost centers to develop and implement the production plan for DSC.
  • Experience with gearbox fabrication is required.
  • Knowledge of machined part fabrication, drives system assembly and installation, tool index plans, GD&T, CATIA V6, and safety of flight test requirements.
  • Identify, report, and resolve safety and quality hazards/risks effectively.
  • Develop scope of work, resource estimates, progress metrics, and communication plans to meet project objectives.
  • Perform producibility analysis and manufacturing trade studies to find cost-effective solutions for complex technical objectives.
  • Follow a disciplined approach in initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing tasks and projects to achieve goals.
  • Ensure work and deliverables are reviewed and checked through team leadership, project management, and functional management to meet objectives.
  • Mentor and share manufacturing technology knowledge with teammates and colleagues.
Skills Required
  • Knowledge of Bell’s product development life cycles and prototype production methodologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio.
  • Experience working with covered labor force preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills, with a team-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills to build and maintain effective relationships across various teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 14 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or related industry.
  • Minimum 14 years of gear, case, and gearbox manufacturing experience.
