Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is seeking a Staff Body Controls Engineer to lead control system development for automotive lighting and closures. You will guide architecture, requirement refinement, and calibration strategies while mentoring junior engineers.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, RTOS-based embedded systems, and hands-on testing across UNIT, SIL, and HIL environments in a fast-paced automotive setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering; Master's preferred.
• 7+ years with automotive control systems and leading projects.
• Strong embedded systems architecture and RTOS knowledge.
• Deep understanding of control theory and algorithm design, incl. PID tuning.
• Proficiency in C and Python programming for scalable software.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and lifecycle tools (JIRA/JAMA/Git).
• FMEA familiarity and leading FMEA sessions.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and development of advanced automotive lighting control systems.
• Refine requirements and create high-level functional designs.
• Develop validation plan and lead feature-level calibration.
• Create test cases for Unit/SIL/HIL testing.
• Collaborate across teams to build simulation models and troubleshoot.
• Ensure robust software integration and best practices in development.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive project delivery.
• Oversee multiple projects with resource/budget awareness.
