Job summary

SailPoint, a leader in cloud identity security, seeks a Staff Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable microservices in a fast-paced, AI-enabled environment. You will contribute Java-based backend work, AI integrations with Claude and Cursor, and data-driven decisions across AWS cloud platforms.

The team values autonomy, engineering excellence, and a mature SaaS architecture in a cloud-native setting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Java experience.
• Deep Experience with Cloud/AWS, IAM/IGA, Compliance, Security and Privacy.
• Advanced experience with large scale databases, and related technologies.
• Expertise with messaging, queues, and events, such as Redis or Kafka.
• Deep understanding of modern architectural patterns for SaaS systems (microservices, event-driven architecture, distributed systems).
• Strong communication skills with ability to articulate technical solutions.
• Independent, motivated engineer who drives work forward with minimal oversight.
• BS in Computer Science, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Produce designs and rough estimates, and implement features based on product requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to design, build, and deliver high-quality software.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, ensuring the team focuses on the right problems and builds practical solutions.
• Review code and offer constructive feedback to maintain high engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the stack.
• Lead POCs, research new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance team efficiency.
• Thrive in a dynamic environment, juggling multiple priorities.
• Share support of critical team systems by participating in on-call rotation.
