Job summary

Inovalon, a healthcare technology company, is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer L5 to design, build, and maintain Java/Spring Boot microservices for our foundation platform, with a strong emphasis on security, identity, and scalable cloud-native infrastructure on AWS.

You will implement authentication integrations (SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT), contribute to CI/CD pipelines, mentor engineers, and participate in an on-call rotation, while collaborating across teams to deliver reliable,

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of software development experience with a strong foundation in Java and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience designing and building microservices-based architectures including API Gateway patterns and distributed system design.
• Solid understanding of authentication and identity platforms; experience with SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, and RBAC.
• AWS experience including ECS, Lambda, SNS, SQS, Secrets Manager, and CloudFormation; familiarity with circuit breakers.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows; Datadog experience a plus.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools as part of day-to-day workflow.
• Strong architectural and system design judgment with a track record of engineering excellence.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to mentor engineers across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java and Spring Boot microservices supporting Inovalon's foundation platform, including client authentication, login, and dashboard functionality.
• Implement authentication integrations using SAML, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and JWT; apply RBAC for secure access.
• Build and maintain cloud-native AWS infrastructure (ECS, Lambda, SNS, SQS, Secrets Manager, CloudFormation); implement fault-tolerance patterns.
• Design API Gateway configurations and microservices patterns; contribute to scalable, secure service architecture.
• Manage and resolve development and production tickets; contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and related tooling.
• Leverage Datadog and AI-assisted tools in daily workflow.
• Provide technical leadership, code reviews, and mentorship to team members.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders across Inovalon; maintain a data-driven feedback loop.
• Adhere to confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory policies and procedures in all work aspects.
• Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies and mission; fulfill duties to achieve operational success.
• On-call rotation approx. one week per month to support production issues per SLAs.
